Ten Inaugural ceremonies President Obama will go to on Tuesday January 20, 2009. Who can get in, where are the events and what are the ticket prices?
Newly sworn-in President Obama will attend 10 Inaugural balls throughout the evening. Five more than John F Kennedy and 4 less than Clinton, the 44th President will celebrate his Inauguration in 5 different locations throughout Washington DC. Here are those details.
Who
When individuals think of balls, dreams of Cinderella amid tuxedos and dazzling gowns worn by the elite come to mind. However, President Obama has offered change, even in this area, to Washington DC. All but two of the official balls in 2009 are based upon regions of the nation and as such any citizen from those regions may attend the ball. From Army privates to California teenagers, the 44th President desires an all inclusive series of parties.
Neighborhood Inaugural Ball – the first of its kind this ball is open to residents of Washington DC as well as international American citizens without a state affiliation. It will be the first ceremony the new President will attend and ABC television plans to broadcast the party live. Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, Faith Hill , Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Shakira, Stevie Wonder and Nick Cannon (as DJ ) will attend this unique celebration.
Obama Home State Ball – is open to residents of President Obama’s birth state and state of residence (Hawaii & Illinois.)
Biden Home State Ball – as with the President this ball is open to residents of Vice President Joe Biden’s birth state and state of residence (Pennsylvania & Delaware).
Mid-Atlantic Ball – open to residents from Maryland, Virginia, DC, New York, New Jersey, & W. Virginia.
Midwest Ball – open to residents from Kansas, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, N. Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, S. Dakota, Wisconsin & Missouri.
Western Ball – open to residents from Alaska, California, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, Oklahoma, Guam & American Samoa.
Southern Ball – open to residents from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, N. Carolina, S. Carolina, Tennessee & Texas.
Eastern Ball – open to residents from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Puerto Rico & US Virgin Islands
Commander in Chief’s Ball – is open to enlisted personal of the US Armed Forces and their families.
Youth Ball – is opened to all between the ages of 18 and 35. Kanye West, Kid Rock and Fall Out Boy will head this ball which will air on MTV.
Where/Place
All official events will be held in the Washington DC area, with the majority (6) located inside the DC Convention Center. All others parties, except for the Youth Ball, will be held in public buildings owned by the taxpayers but paid for by private citizens.

Price
All regional and home state balls have the same price of $150 per person. The Youth ball is half the regular price ($75) while both the neighborhood and Commander in Chief’s Balls are Free to the military and DC residents.
According to officials of the Obama Inaugural Committee, President Obama and Vice President Biden will attend each of these events some time during the evening.
