Anyone may freely contact the White House using email, postal mail, fax, or telephone. If only seeking information, the White House website provides detailed resources on the current administration, key issues, White House tours, and hours of public access.

The White House is the home and government headquarters for the current United States President. First occupied in 1800 by President John Adams, the White House serves as the primary connection between U.S. citizens and the federal government.

Although there have been technological advances in communication methods, the White House has a lengthy history of being on the forefront of communication. According to the White House Historical Association, the White House installed its first telegraph office in 1866 followed by typewriters in 1880.
